Guitar and String Quartet
Travelling on Rhythms
Travelling on Rhythms is a project exploring music for guitar and string quartet. A rather rare combination of instruments and a relatively short repertoire is presented by this project. The name was inspired by the unpublished piece “5 World Dances” by Sergio Assad which is a musical journey through five different cultures. Despite the “ethnic” sound that this fact gives to the quintet, it swifts smoothly from folk to the passionate Argentinian Tangos by Maximo Diego Pujol and to the polyrhythmic and minimal music by Leo Brouwer. The programme includes also pieces by G. Varsamakis, L. Boccherini, R. Dyens and others.
